Crossroads of Coparenting
A 5-step seminar to shield children from harmful conflict
Raising a child across two homes asks something of you that nothing else does. Most of the hard part is not the big decisions. It is the small daily things, worked out again and again with someone you may not agree with about much.
This is a four-hour seminar for parents doing exactly that. It is about one thing: keeping the conflict between the adults from landing on the child in the middle of it.
Whatever the arrangement, and whatever the history. You do not have to be in crisis to come, and you do not need the other parent to agree to it or to be there.
Who This Is For
Any parent raising a child alongside another household. Separated, divorced, never together, living apart for any reason. It does not matter how the arrangement came about or how well it currently works.
You belong here if you are parenting alongside another household and you would rather your child was not carrying what is going on between the adults.
Why Crossroads of Coparenting Exists
Children are not harmed by their parents living apart nearly as much as they are harmed by being put in the middle of what the parents feel about each other. That is the distinction the whole seminar rests on, and most parents have never had it put to them plainly.
It shows up in small ways, which is what makes it hard to see from inside. A child asked how the other house is doing, in a tone that makes the answer matter. A message passed through a seven year old because the adults are not speaking. A comment about the other parent that was not meant for the child but was made where the child could hear it. None of that is unusual, and none of it requires anyone to be a bad parent.
The seminar works through five steps for keeping that separation intact, in a room with other people in the same position. It is not counseling and it is not mediation. Nobody is asked to resolve anything with the other parent, and the other parent does not need to be there.
